Louisiana Tech University, a Division 1-A member of Conference USA is seeking applications for the position of Associate Athletics Director – Chief Financial Officer.  This is a full-time, 12-month position.


Bachelor’s degree is required.  Master’s degree preferred.  Salary will be commensurate with experience.  Previous experience in intercollegiate athletics and business operations is preferred.  This position will report directly to the Director of Athletics and serve on the athletics department senior staff.  Sports supervision will be required for this position, as well.  The successful candidate must be able to multi-task, work independently and provide executive level leadership for the athletics department as it relates to the business operations.


Responsible for effective and efficient operations of athletic department business office.  Ensure all areas of the athletics department demonstrate a commitment to maintaining compliance with NCAA, C-USA, Louisiana Tech and the State of Louisiana rules and regulations.  Work with head coaches and director of athletics in projecting and compiling budget requests for the fiscal year.  Provide appropriate data to ensure gender equality is a consideration during the budget formulation.  Check all purchase requisitions and travel expense accounts for athletics personnel for accuracy in preparation, coding, and to make sure State Board and NCAA rules are adhered to.  Prepare monthly budget summary sheets showing expenditures in each category for each budget unit.  Approve for payment all expensed accounts, request for team travel advances, purchase requisitions, etc., in the absence of the Director of Athletics.  Attend Athletics Council meetings and provide quarterly budget updates.  Responsible for evaluating recruiting budgets for all sports to ensure equitable distribution of funding across comparable sports.  Ensure use of ACS equipment software by all 6 sports for checks and balances and equipment inventory.  During the budgeting process, ensure that equipment and supplies will be allocated equitably within the department.  Authorize payments on the athletic department’s credit card for team travel and recruiting charges.  Responsible for charging expenses to 11 purchasing cards for each of the sports.  Authorize payment to individual travel cards for team travel and recruiting.  Ensure ticket office policies and procedures follow NCAA, State auditors and University policies.  Review monthly ledger against daily deposits from the ticket office.  Ensure system of checks and balances within the athletic department’s expenditures and income.  Provide departmental reports as needed.  Oversee business operations assistant.  Advise Director of Athletics on financial related matters, including budget forecast.

Knowledge of book keeping, with regards to budgets, is essential.  Being able to work with the public daily is of the upmost importance.  Nights and weekends required.
