The School of History and Social Sciences seeks applicants for a tenure track Assistant
Professor of Sociology position, beginning September 1, 2017. A Ph.D. in Sociology
is required by this date. The successful candidate will become part of a small, collegial
department with a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. The ability to teach
classes such as race and ethnicity, criminal justice, and social movements is desired,
although we are open to other areas of specialization as well. The normal teaching
load is three courses per quarter. We seek applicants to teach social theory in addition
to her/his areas of specialization and interest, along with introductory sociology.
Responsibilities will also include advising undergraduate sociology majors. A strong
commitment to exemplary teaching at the undergraduate level, scholarship/research
activity, and good interpersonal and collegial skills are expected. Please send letter
