TENURE TRACK FACULTY MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The vision of the College of Engineering and Science at Louisiana Tech University is to be a world leader in integrating engineering and science in education and research. The College is experiencing significant growth in several program areas and is undertaking an aggressive faculty recruiting campaign. Construction of a new $40M, 128,000 square foot integrated engineering and science education building is anticipated in the 2017-18 academic year. As part of this effort, the College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Mechanical Engineering Program. Candidates must hold a doctorate or equivalent degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering, or in a field with significant overlap. Candidates must demonstrate potential to conduct high-quality research and teaching. Candidates with expertise relevant to the university's research centers who also place a high value on teaching quality and student interaction are of particular interest. These centers include micromanufacturing, biotechnology, nanotechnology, engineering education, and trenchless technology. Opportunities exist for the ideal candidate to leverage state-wide resources being coordinated through a $20M five-year project (2015-2020) to establish a Consortium for Innovation in Manufacturing and Materials in Louisiana.
Successful tenure-track candidates are expected to actively participate in multidisciplinary research efforts in the College; initiate, build and sustain an externally funded research program; and supervise masters and doctoral students. Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong teaching skills, and a commitment to high quality university and professional service are also expected. The College is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
