Twelve-month, tenure-track position available July 1, 2018 in the Department of Health Informatics and Information Management at Louisiana Tech University, a Doctoral/Research University of approximately 12,800 students. The department has a total of five full-time faculty and several area professionals who serve as adjunct faculty. Degrees offered include a bachelor of science in Health Informatics and Information Management and a Master of Health Informatics. The department has a current enrollment of approximately 150 students.
Responsibilities: The department head is responsible for long-range vision and planning, resource development, faculty and student recruitment, faculty evaluation and development, financial planning, accreditation oversight and overall management of the department. Other responsibilities include teaching, research and service at a level commensurate to the position. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills with students, faculty, staff, peers and administrators.
Qualifications: We seek candidates at the rank of associate or full professor with demonstrated experience in management, instruction, research, leadership and professional service. A graduate level degree (doctorate preferred) in health information management, health informatics or a related area and the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential is required.
