Tenure Track Counselor Educator Position

The Louisiana Tech University Counseling & Guidance Program is seeking a full-time, tenure-track, Counselor Educator beginning Fall 2018 for the Bossier/Shreveport area.  We seek applicants at the rank of associate professor, though applicants at the assistant professor rank will be considered.  The Counseling & Guidance Program is CACREP-accredited, with concentrations in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling, and is housed in the Department of Psychology & Behavioral Sciences.

The applicant must have an earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program. Applicants must be eligible for licensure as a professional counselor in the state of Louisiana.  Primary responsibilities are teaching courses in clinical mental health counseling and school counseling, research/scholarly activity, service to the department, college, and university, and mentoring/advising students.  This faculty appointment will entail teaching classes and serving students mainly in the Bossier/Shreveport area, with an expectation of teaching on the main campus in Ruston periodically.

In addition to serving as a core faculty member in the Counseling & Guidance Program, the appointed faculty member will also have the opportunity to serve in a different capacity.  This position entails serving as the primary contact person for our Bossier/Shreveport area students, advising, establishing and maintaining community relationships, and assisting in growing the program in the Bossier/Shreveport area.  This faculty position will be housed mainly in the Academic Success Center, a partnership facility located on the Bossier Parish Community College campus.  It is pertinent that the appointed faculty member be organized, self-directed, and able to work autonomously while adhering to the mission of the Counseling & Guidance Program.  Applicants who have served in leadership roles are preferred. 

The Counseling and Guidance Program, Department of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences, and Louisiana Tech University have a strong commitment to diversity.  Applicants should be able to work effectively with diverse populations and groups.
