Exercise and Sport Psychology

The Department of Kinesiology at Louisiana Tech University is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in exercise and sport psychology to begin September 1, 2018. Specific areas of interest include exercise behaviors, promoting physical activity across the lifespan, health outcomes, and psychosocial aspects of sport and physical activity.

Position:  Assistant Professor. Tenure-track. Nine-month appointment.

Faculty Responsibilities:  Activities required of all tenure-track faculty include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, supervising graduate students, and curriculum development, while maintaining a productive research program. Substantial opportunities for collaborative research exist with faculty in the College of Education, School of Human Ecology, and Departments of Psychology, and Nutrition and Dietetics. Additional responsibilities include departmental, college, and university service assignments.

Qualifications:  Candidates must have an earned doctorate in Kinesiology or a closely related field (ABD will be considered); evidence of capability to engage in and publish research and present at professional meetings; demonstrated knowledge and awareness of professional developments related to area of specialization; experience in working with students and colleagues from multi-cultural backgrounds. Evidence of effective teaching and ability to develop a focused line of research in the psychology of physical activity will receive preferable consideration.

Department Information:  The Department of Kinesiology (http://education.latech.edu/departments/kinesiology/) at Louisiana Tech University is one of the fastest growing departments on campus and is known for its quality of graduates at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Department offers the Bachelor of Science degree with concentrations in Health & Physical Education (K-12 CAEP accredited teaching licensure program), Exercise & Health Promotion, Kinesiology and Health Sciences, and the Master of Science degree with concentrations in Administration of Sport and Physical Activity and Sports Performance. Most recently, the 2,000 sq. ft. Sport and Movement Science Laboratory (http://www.latechsportscience.org) has been created for teaching and research. This position presents a great opportunity for a qualified, committed, and enthusiastic professional who wants to be part of a highly successful and collegial team with departmental goals of continued growth and enhanced visibility.
