Assistant Professor in Architectural Design
Position: The School of Design at Louisiana Tech University is seeking candidates to fill one or more tenure-track teaching positions at the rank of assistant professor, beginning September 2018 (pending budgetary approval). Primary teaching responsibilities will include instruction in both foundation and upper-level undergraduate design studios. Additional consideration will be given for the ability to teach support coursework in architectural history & theory, urban design, digital fabrication, and tectonic assemblies. Additional responsibilities will include advising students, serving on departmental and school committees, and engaging in related university service and outreach.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a professional degree in architecture (B. Arch or M. Arch) and demonstrate the potential for executing an agenda of research and/or creative work. Previous teaching and professional practice experience are required; professional licensure or a Ph.D. is preferred. Particularly, we encourage candidates with an interest in multi-disciplinary research and collaborations.
Institutional Background: The Architecture Program is an academic unit within the School of Design and the College of Liberal Arts. The program offers a pre-professional B.S. in Architectural Studies degree, and a NAAB-accredited professional Master of Architecture degree. The program is committed to providing a comprehensive and uncompromising, balanced and demanding education in the art, craft, and practice of ethical building through the polytechnic tradition of "hands-on" experiences and empirical learning that prepares an individual to be an architect in the fullest sense of the term.
