Assistant Professor, Department of Health Informatics and Information Management

The Department of Health Informatics and Information Management is currently seeking applications for an assistant professor. This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position with an anticipated hire date of September 1, 2018. Louisiana Tech University is a four-year selective admissions research university awarding bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Louisiana Tech has an enrollment of approximately 12,800 students and is in Ruston, Louisiana. With a population of approximately 25,000, Ruston is a small, university-oriented city that boasts several outdoor recreational facilities and a strong sense of community.
The department has five full-time and three adjunct faculty members. Degrees offered include a Bachelor of Science in Health Informatics and Information Management and a Master of Health Informatics. Both programs are accredited by CAHIIM.
The responsibilities of the position include course development and instruction in a traditional on campus and online format in the undergraduate program. The faculty member will also be responsible for engaging in scholarly activity; performing service activities for the profession, university, department, and community; contributing to recruitment and marketing of both programs; advising undergraduate students; participating in accreditation review; and contributing to all departmental initiatives and goals.
The requirements for this position include a minimum of a master's degree, preferably in a field related to Health Informatics and Information Management. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years recent experience in the Health Information Management/Health Informatics field, advanced computer literacy, experience with electronic health records use and implementation, healthcare data analytics and regulatory requirements. RHIA, RN or similar credential and/or license is required.
